Hi, I’m Lorraine Sheppard…

Hypnotherapy helped me long before I understood why it worked. That gap - between something working and understanding the mechanism behind it - is what led me to train at the Clifton Practice, where this method was developed, and qualify in 2025.

I'm practical by nature. I worked in IT and accounts before this, I need things to make sense, and I have no time for anything that feels like smoke and mirrors. Which is probably why I find the neuroscience behind this so compelling - and why I think it's important that the people who come to see me understand it too.

I'm based at Capel Farm near Llangorse in the Brecon Beacons. I'm a mum, a walker, and I'm accredited with the NCH.

What to Expect When You Work with Me

We'd start with a free initial consultation - a relaxed conversation where I explain how everything works and you can ask whatever you want. No pressure, no commitment, no awkward silences. Just a chance to see if it feels like a good fit.

Sessions are around 60 minutes. We begin with a conversation - what's been going well however small, and what you'd like to be different. Then comes the hypnosis: guided relaxation with a purpose. You stay aware throughout, you're always in control, and most people find it the most genuinely relaxing hour of their week.

    During hypnosis, you remain fully aware and in control at all times. It’s simply a natural, relaxed state of focused attention - similar to how you might feel when you’re deeply absorbed in a book, a film, or even your own thoughts. You won’t be asleep or unconscious, and you can choose to open your eyes, speak, or end the session whenever you like.

    You can’t be made to do or say anything against your will. Hypnosis is a collaborative and respectful process, one that helps calm the nervous system, quiet the mind, and open up space for positive, solution-focused thinking.

    The key to successful hypnotherapy is feeling safe, supported, and able to focus — and that can happen just as easily from the comfort of your own home. As long as you have a quiet space, a stable internet connection, and a comfortable chair or sofa, we can work together just as we would face to face.

    You’ll still experience the same calming, solution-focused approach and guided hypnosis — all designed to help reduce stress, build resilience, and create positive change.

    Some clients even find that being in their own familiar environment helps them relax more deeply and feel at ease more quickly.
