I came to this the long way round.

For a long time I avoided situations I didn't need to avoid. I'd go over conversations in my head long after they'd finished, second-guess myself, find reasons not to show up. Social anxiety has a way of quietly shrinking your world without you really noticing it happening.

Life has been messy at times too, in ways that have nothing to do with anxiety. I say that because I think it matters - when you sit down with me, there's no version of your life that's going to surprise or shock me. There's no judgement here, just a genuine interest in helping you get to where you want to be.

Nearly twenty years ago I tried hypnotherapy. Not because I'd researched it or was convinced it would work, but because I'd heard it had helped other people and I was ready to try something. It worked. And that planted a question I couldn't leave alone: why?

That question eventually led me to train at the Clifton Practice in Bristol, where Solution Focused Hypnotherapy was developed. I qualified in December 2025 and haven't looked back.

Why this and not something else?

Before training I worked in IT and accounts. I'm practical by nature and I need to understand why something works before I can truly believe in it - which is probably why the neuroscience behind this captured me so completely.

The brain isn't fixed. It's constantly adapting, forming new patterns, responding to what we feed it. When we're stuck in anxiety, low mood, a phobia, or an unhelpful habit, it's not permanent. It's just the brain doing what brains do. And that means it can change.

That's why I think it matters that the people who come to see me understand how this works. Because for a lot of people, understanding their brain is the first thing that makes change feel possible.

A bit about me outside the therapy room

Outside the therapy room life is pretty quiet on paper - I live near Llangorse with my two boys, and somehow it's always busy. When I do get a moment I'm usually out walking or listening to a podcast. I'm genuinely fascinated by what makes people tick, which probably explains both the hypnotherapy and the podcast habit.

I grew up in this part of Wales and I know how close-knit these communities are. Confidentiality matters deeply to me. If we work together, I won't acknowledge you when we're out and about unless you want me to. What happens in sessions stays there, always.

Training and accreditation

I trained at the Clifton Practice in Bristol, the home of Solution Focused Hypnotherapy and where this method was developed. It's the gold standard for this kind of training and it's where I'd want anyone I cared about to go.

I hold a CPHT diploma, I'm a registered member of the National Council for Hypnotherapy, fully insured, and hold an enhanced DBS check.
